This drawer is inspired by the peace talks that took place after the Battle of Brooklyn. The British leader Admiral Howe had a personal affection for America and was committed to trying to make a deal with the colonies. After the Battle of Brooklyn he set up a conference with General George Washington and other delegates. The talks took place in a house in Staten Island which Howe romantically spruced up for the occasion.
In the Peace drawer:
a blanket of moss, dried goldenrod and lavender and an American’s Robins nest.
